Seahawks Complete Stunning Comeback to Edge Rams in Overtime on 2-Point Conversion

The Seattle Seahawks pulled off an incredible comeback to defeat the Los Angeles Rams 38-37 in overtime, overcoming a 16-point deficit in the fourth quarter to move into first place in the NFC West.

In overtime, quarterback Sam Darnold led Seattle on a decisive 65-yard drive, culminating in a 4-yard touchdown pass to Jaxon Smith-Njigba. Darnold then threw a successful 2-point conversion to Eric Saubert, securing the victory.

For the Rams, Matthew Stafford had an impressive 457 passing yards, while Puka Nacua recorded 225 receiving yards. The duo connected on two touchdown passes, including a 41-yard score in overtime that briefly gave the Rams the lead.

Seattle’s win improves their record to 12-3, giving them control of the NFC, while Los Angeles falls to 11-4.

This game marked one of the most significant victories of the Mike Macdonald era. Facing a key division rival at Lumen Field with playoff implications, the Seahawks demonstrated resilience and determination at a crucial moment in the season. With two games remaining against the Panthers and 49ers, Seattle remains in strong position for the top seed in the NFC.

Darnold’s performance, while not flawless, was crucial in the clutch. Despite two costly interceptions earlier in the game, he remained composed under pressure and made the decisive throw to Saubert for the 2-point win — a play many are calling one of the most important of his career.

For the Rams, Nacua stood out in a high-pressure situation. With star receiver Davante Adams sidelined due to a hamstring injury, Nacua faced heavy coverage but still managed 12 catches for 225 yards and two touchdowns, including the 41-yard overtime score. His performance highlighted his skill and resilience, even as the Rams struggled with key injuries and inconsistent execution elsewhere on the field.

The Rams’ offensive line, which had been dominant in recent games, suffered a setback when Kevin Dotson left the game with an ankle injury. The absence disrupted both the passing and running games, limiting the effectiveness of the backfield duo Kyren Williams and Blake Corum, who combined for 118 rushing yards with no runs longer than 9 yards.

Special teams miscues and defensive breakdowns further contributed to the Rams’ narrow defeat, demonstrating how critical execution is in tight playoff-contending games.

Had the game ended in a tie, the Rams and Seahawks would have both been 11-3-1, with the Rams still holding a chance to clinch the NFC West and top seed. Instead, Seattle’s bold play-calling and late-game heroics delivered a signature win and shifted the balance in the NFC.
